It may sound strange, but I think even with todays hardware already, 2 hours per
move give much *less* insight than 2 minutes per move. Because, if an engines's
evaluation jumps from, say +0.27 to +1,96 *after* more than 2 minutes, it will
be already very difficult to get an insight what's happening :o))

An example:

[D]3Q4/3p4/P2p4/N2b4/8/4P3/5p1p/5Kbk w - - 0 1

I guess the important improvements will be more detailed information, better
presented than just by the eval/pm/pv, GM-like advise scenarios where you can
ask particular questions about the position and possible plans (preferably
answered in natural language using variants and board graphics, but more
flexible than known so far), and things like that. Pure chess strength (alone)
will not be sufficient to make progress, because it won't really be interesting
if the prog has 2950 or 2999 elos. And it may be useful when positions like the
one above are solved faster (again), like in 3 seconds maybe, but after that
it's not very interesting anymore to improve any further in terms of speed IMO.
