It is time to think about upgrading my hardware. I notice that the P4 2.4GHz costs about the same as the AthlonXP 2400+. Has anyone got any data on their relative performance for bitboard and non-bitboard engines. I guess form Crafty and something else. Does the P4 still have the internal circuit to slow it down (when it gets hot) under sustained load. I seem to recall seeing something from Quake players about this, but could be mistaken. Frank ps It is not my intention to start a 'religious' AMD versus Intel war.
