I am using my chess software 5-10 hours per day, and enjoy it. As a retired
person, I have the time. The day may come when my health fails, and my brain
shrivels up into a tiny ball. I don't see any point in worrying about that.

Sometimes I become irritated because my 1 GHz computer is so infuriatingly slow.
Those times come occasionally, especially while I'm waiting for Fritz to do a
decent assessment, but most of the time I am ignoring that obvious handicap. A
3X speedup would be nice, but not nearly enough.

Incidentally, if I stop the chess and turn my attention instead to learning how
to program chess engines, I may never get back to chess! That would be a
tragedy. : )
