Anyway, though having more than one doubt about Thorsten recently: straightforward faking results surely does not belong to these doubts. How about the following principles in testgame or tournament discussions: - the tester (any tester, including Thorsten) is considered a good-willing chess entusiast unless *proven* otherwise. - the outcome of such swiss tournaments is dependent on many factors, possibly leading to quite different results. No reason to worry: as soon as a program is published, anybody will be able to evaluate it, and all playing and position tests together normally lead to quite a valid overall picture. - the main thing about 40/2 games is that a tester invested considerable time and effort in getting it. If posted, everbody can replay it and comment it. This is a real benefit, and a tester and his games should be looked at with some critical sympathy before judging him or her... I'm not implying you couln't or shouldn't critisize a tester, but better only if you see definite and concrete reasons to do so... Kind regards from Dirk
