Hi Jouni,

we all know how much Thorsten likes not only CSTal, but the overall concept of
"knowledge-programs" since many years. And equally well we see how much he not
just dislikes, but nearly hates Fritz5 and it's company.

Anyway, though having more than one doubt about Thorsten recently:
straightforward faking results surely does not belong to these doubts.

How about the following principles in testgame or tournament discussions:

- the tester (any tester, including Thorsten) is considered a good-willing chess
entusiast unless *proven* otherwise.

- the outcome of such swiss tournaments is dependent on many factors, possibly
leading to quite different results. No reason to worry: as soon as a program is
published, anybody will be able to evaluate it, and all playing and position
tests together normally lead to quite a valid overall picture.

- the main thing about 40/2 games is that a tester invested considerable time
and effort in getting it. If posted, everbody can replay it and comment it. This
is a real benefit, and a tester and his games should be looked at with some
critical sympathy before judging him or her...

I'm not implying you couln't or shouldn't critisize a tester, but better only if
you see definite and concrete reasons to do so...

Kind regards
from Dirk
