Hello Mike
The problem is the missing OPK-number as per following explanation:

General remarks:
To run TheKing under Fritz7-GUI, an adapter (Winboard or better UCI) is needed
and furthermore TheKing has something like a copy protection [so called OPK
number] that must be refreshed every time after (re)booting the PC.

Most important however:
Ensure that your Chessmaster 9000 is installed together with the latest CM9K
patch/upgrade v1.01 [download address = http://support.ubi.com/patches.phpin] so
you will have "TheKing.exe" (134.144 Byte) and the updated CM9-GUI.

Please let me me know the paths of your folders

a) Chessmaster 9000 [e.g. "C:\Programme\Ubi Soft\Chessmaster 9000"

b) ChessBase\Engines [e.g. "C:\Programme\ChessBase\Engines"

c) Fritz 7 [e.g. "C:\Programme\ChessBase\Fritz7\"

to enable me to send you some prepared files for starting The King 3.23 (as
"UCI" engine with the Wb2Uci adapter) in Fritz 7 including the possibility to
easily switch between some special CM9_settings (like CM9_default, CM9_8777,
CM9_Pillen, CM9_Utz12n).

By the way: these files can also be used to work with The King.eng in other
GUI's like:

- Hiarcs 8
- Shredder 6 (ChessBase and/or Classic GUI)
- Chess Assistant 6.1
- Arena

provided the paths are set to these GUI's.

Regards
Kurt
