Is it really a must for Fritz 8? To me it seems Odd Gunnar's adapter is an
alternative, that should work pretty well with any WB-engine.

I don't have Fritz 8, so I cannot check. But I received some comments, that seem
to indicate, that the UCI interface of F8 is not as reliable, as one could wish
(the same is true for earlier versions of Fritz - for example it is easy to
check, that Fritz 7 does not support the string option of the UCI-protocol).
