All my observations are based on Shredder 6 and Shredder Paderborn.

Shredder is not bad in tactics. But it is slower than
other professional engines.

Whether this causes it to lose games by tactical shots is another
matter. When you play positionally well it's not very likely that
there is a 15 ply tactical shot if there is none at 14 ply.
