Yes, there are 3 major differences. Draughts is played on a 10 by 10 board. In draughts, nonkings are allowed to capture backwards. Kings move like (chess)queens. So it's allowed to pass over 2 empty squares,capture a piece on the 3rd square, then change direction (only on the square immediately after the captured piece ) fly over 3 empty squares again, and capture another piece (and stopping on the square immediately after the captured piece).
