You have long been interested in Computer draughts, Mark. Nice to see you again. >Some questions on the tournament. >What computer hardware did you use? Was it a dual processor? No dual processor. What for ? :o) It was a Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz. >What was the performance rating during this tournament? We don't usually calculate this type of thing in draughts. But if you consider that all programs have a level between 2050 and 2350 (scale : 1200 = absolute beginner, 2450 = world champion), and take into account the fact that there are many draws in this game, Buggy's performance probably was around 2550. (I have not computed it accurately, just giving a rough estimate) >How did you beat the top programs Damage (2nd) and Dios (3rd) but did not beat >last place TD King (9th)? Well my explanation comes from two facts : the game against TDKing was more or less a classical game, where the number of draws is known to be high, much higher than in say flankspel (asymetrical wing plays), Buggy had an aukward position after the opening, and as TD King did not make any important mistake, there was no way for Buggy to get something from the position. The other reason is that TD King may sometimes have big bugs. That's why it finished last, though I still believe that without all these bugs, it could definitely finish at a very high rank. Anyway, it bugged against other opponents, but not against Buggy... Usually the last program always loses to the first one, and the top programs draw each other. It was different this time. No good explanation, except statistics I guess. >Where can we find the game moves and analysis of the games? I'll send them to you (without analysis) if you give me your email. One game (against Dios) can be watched on www.buggy-online.com (see page best games) >When is Buggy going to play a human player again? I don't know. Any other question ?
