Typing error: Hex(6x7) should of course have been Hex(7x7).

Given the state-space and game-tree figures, the games you cite, in increasing
order of difficulty are obviously:

- Othello ( 28, 58),
- Western Chess ( 46, 123),
- Chinese Chess ( 48, 150),
- Shogi ( 71, 226),
- Go (19x19) (172, 360).

The authors go on to estimate the status of these games in 2010:

Solved or 'cracked': Awari (yes, solved now), Othello, 8x8 Checkers

Over Champion: i.e. able to beat the World-Champion easily
Chess, Draughts (10x10), Scrabble (believed to be near-perfect now)
          Backgammon, Lines of Action

World Champion: Go (9x9), Chinese Chess, Hex, Amazons

Grand Master: Bridge, Shogi

Amateur: Go (19x19)
