After twice the head-scratching, I realized it was a simple misunderstanding on
my part. (The first half came when I tried to figure out what "unix ruffian NT"
was.)

Oops!

It sounded like a porting problem. I will offer no more comments since they
would be off-topic and liable to start a flame war. ;)
