White is 8 points behind in material, and Re4+ leads to an obvious draw by repetition. Programs that do not see the mate see this draw as a very good outcome given the difference in material. Rg4+ leads to a long mate (31 plies). Re4+ leads to an easy short draw. All other moves lose. Programs that cannot see that far ahead are definitely going to choose the draw. jm
