i understand this problem. it is NOT a system restore issue. It IS A KNOWN BUG in windows which relates to terminating programs and closing folders in the explorer. THERE IS A FIX! (but is not part of autoupdate/service pack because it doesn't happen on all chipsets) you can find the patch, an exe file, at www.downloads..microsoft.com , please search by product windows XP then sort by date. as this patch was released within the last 2 months, it should stick out right away.
