Common sense and experience with chessmaster6000.

I saw that chessmaster6000 can show depth 1/7 in the middlegame with
selectivity=6 but only 6/7 in the endgame.

I also looked at the searching lines of chessmaster and I guess that when the
depth is 6/7 chessmaster simply does not use null move in the first 6 plies.


I remember that john merlino claimed that depth 1/9 means that 9 plies are the
minimal extension but I never saw case when chessmaster missed a simple tactic
at depth 1/9 in the middle game when zugzwangs are impossible.

If 1 is brute force by normal definition then it is not possible.
If 1 is brute force by definition that says that 9 is the brute force depth when
null move is allowed then it is possible.
