The number before the slash is the "brute force" depth, and the number after the
slash is the minimum extension depth (Johan calls this the "nominal depth").

Or, perhaps Johan's layman's explanation might be simpler. He said, for a depth
of X/Y:

-- All interesting moves are searched to (at least) Y ply.
-- All legal, but mostly stupid, moves are searched to X ply.
