It might be something in inherent in the whole GM thing.

At Aegon '96 Larry Christiansen wanted to play some blitz against mine, so off
we went (I made moves manually on the board and punched the clock, these were
all 5 0 games).  I don't know how long it was, I wish I could say.  But it was
some vast amount of time measurable in hours.  I did not see any decrease in
intensity on his part the whole time.  I was starting to come down with a cold
earlier that day, and by the time he wanted to quit I could no longer even
speak.
