What we all discovered here recently was that most, if not all, real-life positions are a mix of positional and tactical. To me, a predominantly tactical position should be called "a tactical position" and a predominantly positional position should be called "a positional position." There is also the logical possibility that some positions may exist in which neither tactics nor positional considerations dominate. The question as to what does and does not "dominate" in a position is a judgment call. I would call upon a top GM to make that judgment call, if possible. [Of course, he/she may want $1,000,000 to do that.] Bob D.
