I own a couple PCs too, including an Athlon. The program(s) I seek don't need to be the complete equal in strength to Fritz/Tiger/Ruffian/Shredder. But it would be nice if they were one or two that were reasonably strong and used the new GUI to a good degree. PS: Having spent literally thousands and thousands of hours networking, using, and programming both Macs & PCs (many, many of each) for the last 19 years, I can assuredly say that Macs don't suck.
