I thought of implementing something like this, but obviously the problem is that
there are so many possible pattens to watch out for. I thought whether some
pre-eval could be done before the search starts which then tells the search()
function "watch out in case these patterns appear", so that extensions can be
turned on and off in advance according to the nature of the position. Obviously
there can't be a smothered mate if one of the Pawns has moved so it's no use
wasting time detecting the pattern. Another problem could be that the deeper
we're searching the less accurate our pre-eval is going to be anyway. Any ideas
Uri?

Mike.
