Otherwise you will have no choice but to question why Jackson feels an EPIC fantasy needs to be ultradramatic. If you don't read the books, you can't be disappointed that significant artistic freedom has contorted the characters you thought you knew -- such as Faramir the Villain. Jackson's Lord of the Rings has inconsistencies in the plot, too. You won't notice unless you already know the plot. -Matt
