Recently, there was a chart titled "Crafty v18.11 Benchmark" presented here. It showed Kn/s [what Hyatt calls "raw Kn/s"?] for various computers. The absolute worst computer, a P4-1.5GHz, had more than 500 Kn/s. It would be really nice if a similar chart [or the information that would go into the chart] would be available for Fritz 8. Could people with better computers *please* post their Kn/s and computer data here for such a chart? It would really help me a lot. I am no longer satisfied with my ancient 1 GHz computer and desire the best single processor machine I can afford. The object is to minimize the time required for Fritz 8 to arrive at a good answer. Ten minutes is too long to wait! I would never consider putting together my own computer. The computer needs to be tested. That's why I currently have Compaq. Maybe Dell would be good in that way too. Several thousand dollars would be OK. Do you have a FAST computer, with the right kind and amount of RAM, which gives a high Kn/s using Fritz 8? Incidentally, I use my Fritz programs primarily for overnight and real-time analyses, so more RAM is required than would be for playing Blitz chess. Thanks in advance, Bob D.
