Is it meeting Moore's Law? Faster? Slower? I don't know exactly. However, put this against: - chess search algorithms, even with all their pruning enhancements, etc., are exponential. And I guess much more exponential than hardware improvements. - even if we do achieve faster searches, deeper searches may give diminishing returns - larger hashtables give dimishing returns I'm no expert. This just represents my current understanding, which may be wrong (of course). But it leads me to believe that the main emphasis lies with software improvements... more knowledge, etc., etc. So, will the hardware continue to "carry us forward"? (Please don't answer "yes"...
