IMO it depends on whether the book was part of the GUI or not.
If the bookmoves were in fact played by the GUI, Tao may have never started
correctly, and it would be identical to losing on time before playing the first
move. I think this game should be replayed.

If Tao selects the opening moves by itself, it has started playing. In this case
it should be treated like any other bug in the engine and the game declared
lost.
