Hi Bill, I have a laptop mainly for work purposes, but I wouldn't trade it for anything and have found it ideal for chess. It's bigger, of course, than a palm or chess computer, but I love the fact that I can use any of my chess software on it. Great for evaluating positions and going over magazine/book positions. True, the displays are not as bright as CRT monitors, but, active matrix ones are terrific and they're still better than any chess computer or palm screen. Not to mention you can output to a normal CRT or TV. The biggest benchmark concerns for a laptop are the CPU and RAM (how much RAM, specifically, for some databases); unlike video games where you may be more concerned about 3d acceleration or hard drive access times for video editing. So, a laptop with X ram and X processor will perform very similarly to a desktop with X ram and X processor. Brian On December 19, 2002 at 14:09:01, William Dozier wrote: >Good day everyone.
