I don't know if the old Kasparov is playing chess at the level of the old Korchnoi. I doubt it. Reason: Kasparov has NOT the stamina of Korchnoi, he can be much more disturbed by the environment. But if you like Korchnoi, why not including Smylov, a completely different player, but also extremely strong in old age. BTW about all these topics there should be some research, but alas, it's much easier to let chess programs play automatically and then present statistically invalid results. And then claim GM status.
