Subject: About testing and tests suits

This time no murdering intended, assured!

Let me please ask you a couple of very basic questions. Perhaps they are so
basic that nobody really thought about it before.

In a little thread about the question if Fritz 8 is weker than Fritz 7 I read
certain remarks without further explanation and I was really surprised.

Uri is asking Prof. Irazoqui, if he had already tested so and so in his "secret
test suite".

What is a secret test suite??

Then the addressed answered I'll be glad to "test" your Movei.

What is meant with "I'll test"??

Further.

In the same thread I read statements such as "In my tournament so and so Fritz 8
is trailing Fritz 7 etc.pp."

But in the overall context there is perhaps the time schedules mentioned but
nothing else.

So, my question is:

What is meant if a "tester" (what is a tester?) says that in his X (followed by
a single word) Fritz 8 is showing Y (followed by a simple number)?

What is the meaning of such numbers without background and sense??

That was a first list of questions. I agree that the questions are really
primitive. But then I'm just a lay in computer chess.

P.S. I forgot a very basic question: When does it make sense to say that Fritz 8
is weaker than Fritz 7? Or is it in computer chess comparable to the science of
religion where priests or high priests make their final judgments? And if this
is the case, where could I find a list of the most important priests in computer
chess? Thanks for all help.
