I think he is essentially a "feeling" (or intuitive) type as a chess player, like Karpov, Petrosjan and Smyslow. Such players can feel their way even in near complete mental darkness (= zero nodes/second in computerchess terms). As the story goes Petrosjan could smell danger. So maybe we should label these players as "smelling types". The eyes may become bad, the ears may become deaf, memory may fade, but a long as we have a nose ... ;) Implementing a nose: the ultimate goal of chess programming? Martin
