A good example of the perils of adaptations is 'The Shining'. Kubrick made a work of genius. Changing scenes and castin brilliantly. King hated it. The faithful version is bland and uninteresting. A pile of stinking dung, to be exact. King approved of that one though. MvH Dan Andersson
