Bob,

I also use Windows 98 SE, and it will tell you both the processor type and speed
via the DirectX Diagnostic tool.  You can access it by the following sequence:
START...PROGRAMS...ACCESSORIES...SYSTEM TOOLS...SYSTEM INFORMATION.  From this
screen, select TOOLS...DirectX DIAGNOSTIC.  The first screen that pops up
(SYSTEM) will give you the processor information.
