I think most Winboard enthusiasts are adept enough to use a program like Winzip to extract to a subdirectory, without having to be walked thru a self-extract utility. I chose not to install the Arasan GUI, and selected only the Arasan engine + opening book. Is that sufficient to get Arasan to run under Winboard? When I did this, I noticed a message quickly flashed by that said something to the effect of "registering Arasan...". Which leads me to ask the following question: Does Arasan's install wizard write to the Registry? For me, I would rather manually unzip to a subdirectory. If I decide to 'uninstall', I just delete the subdirectory and everything is clean. Bringer, which also has its own GUI, allows this. You may want to think about doing the same. The thought cluttering up my Registry with unnecessary entries gives me the willys!
