Subject: Interesting Old Chess Programming Articles

Author: Jim Phillips

The Oct and Nov 1978 issues of Byte Magazine contained several articles
on computer chess programming - including a two-part article by none other
than the Spracklens, detailing their Sargon program. These articles are
historically significant to the interests of the CCC. What's more, even
today the information they contain is meaty and relevant.

I have these articles; the Oct 1978 issue was my introduction to computer
chess. I have looked on the Internet and it appears that these texts are
not available anywhere for downloading.

I have e-mailed a request to Byte Magazine asking their permission to upload
these very interesting articles. Assuming I get their permission, I have
some questions:

  1) Are they already available at an Internet site I don't know about?

  2) Does the CCC have an Archive page that I could upload to?

  3) Although I am a fast typist, the job will require some hours of work.
Does anyone want to see these texts? (I think I know what the answer
to that one will be... :))

I am crossing my fingers.... 8^|
