What point are you making? My Mickey-mouse hobby program has opening heuristics that usually keep it "in book" (one ply!) for several moves. It's quite tricky not to overcook the compensation for the missing pawn in a gambit. I'm writing it this way so it won't be thrown if the opponent goes out of its book (when I write one).
