The issue may no longer be important.  We seem to be on the verge of an
industry-wide switch to 64-bit computers.  Maybe a year or so, but soon.
Presumably, all of the top chess engines will convert over to 64-bit.  The
high-end is also going multi-processor.

The hyperthreading is also clouding the issue.  Soon, such "pseudo-dual"
processors will be common.  All the chess engines will have to run on them too.

All the comparisons of the 32-bit "ordinary" computers and software for them may
become obsolete.  Just as it was for 16-bit.
