AMD is always better price/performance than Intel, but that is irrelevant when
you ask the question, "Which processor is fastest?"

AMD does not sell AthlonXP 3025. They do sell AthlonXP 2700. Theoretically
AthlonXP 2800 has been around for a month, but I have not seen it advertised by
vendors. The point about overclocking is quite valid: one can assume that the
Pentium 4 will overclock too. Most of us do not care to overclock our systems,
and all we care about are the stock benchmarks in which the Pentium 4 is going
to win over the AthlonXP in Fritz 8. The memory speed likely makes a -big-
difference here, and if the Pentium 4 had a 25% faster FSB like yours, it would
probably beat your chip.

Dr. Hyatt's point about clock speed and IPC is also quite valid. Do you expect
Athlon to hit 5 GHz? I don't. The K7 will probably not even hit 3 GHz. The
Pentium 4 is intended to hit 5 GHz. A 5 GHz Pentium 4 is probably a bit faster
than a 3 GHz K7, wouldn't you agree?

The latest rumor is that the x86-64 is slated for April. It may churn things up
a bit, but it would be best to wait until April to make that assessment.
