Ed, This eval stuff is great! IMO this section could be the one that delivers the the most knowledge capital. There are open source programs but I cannot think of anywhere on the web where there is a detailed *explanation* of a complex evaluation routine. Crafty is probably the closest - the papers on temperal difference maybe another. >The white bishop on F1 looks through G2 to H3. So what's the trigger to 'look though' a piece?
