I recently saw the results of a recent survey posted here concerning the number of users of Mac Chess software. Unfortunately, the numbers were dismal. Using just those results, why would anyone want to write chess software for profit on a Mac. Here is the answer. The iMac has been a huge success. This has revived Apple and has greatly helped the sales of their other computers. All Macs are now based on the G3 chip which when compared on an equal speed basis, is faster than a PII. I am a diehard Mac fan and I would really encourage you programmers out there to consider the Mac along with the PC. Right now, the best program available for the Mac is Hiarcs 6.0. For some reason, the size of the hash table is extremely limited in this version. I really hope that Hiarcs 7.0 comes out for the Mac with just as much capability as the PC version
