What do you mean by "outsearching" (is it displaying a higher value, called "depth") ? I guess that nobody is able to outsearch Ruffian by 3 plies. The depth is usually a number counting the iterations. It contains no information about the search trees which are being inspected. It's a more or less useless number. A program displaying depth=6 may be following many lines deeper than another program displaying depth=9. Uli
