I recently played a couple of blitz games on Chess Base Server with Ruffian to test a self-created book. one (crazy? he claimed a win on disconnect pretty soon) guy had obviously worked out a variation to beat Ruffian (and other programs?). He tried to improve his rating with this variation: killer gambit (2623) - Ruffi (2331) [A01] 1.b3 e5 2.e4 Nc6 3.Bb2 Nf6 4.Nc3 Bc5 5.Nf3 Ng4 6.d4 exd4 7.Nd5 d3 8.Qxd3 Nxf2 9.Qc3 killer gambit claims win on disconnect 9...Nxh1 10.Qxg7 Rf8 11.Nf6+ Ke7 12.Nd5+ 0.66/8 0 Ke8 13.Bf6 0.41/9 0 Ne7 14.Ng5 0.44/8 0 Nxd5 15.Bxd8 0.84/7 0 Bb4+ 16.Kd1 2.00/9 3 Bc3 17.e5 2.44/8 0 Ne3+ 18.Kc1 3.81/8 0 Nf5 19.Qf6 4.00/8 0 d5 20.Bxc7 4.00/8 0 Bd7 21.Bd6 5.59/8 0 Nxd6 22.Qxd6 5.59/7 0 Rh8 23.Qxd5 6.34/8 0 Rf8 24.Nxh7 8.72/7 0 Rh8 25.Nf6+ 10.22/8 0 Kf8 26.Nxd7+ Ruffi,Ruffian 1.0.1 gibt auf 1-0 All moves till 11.Nf6+ were played instantly out of his book. seems to work at longer time controls too.
