Stephen,
In case you don't know. You can install Ruffian and any other UCI
engine under Fritz 7-8, Shredder 6-7, Hiarcs 8; very easily.

I understand that you are still getting familiar with the New Chessbase GUI, so
I thought these infos might be helpfull to you.
As far as the playing style of Ruffian is concerned, IMO for a "dummy" chess
player like me (est. 1500 elo :) ), it's preety impresive.
