Yes, I agree with you.  CM9000 seems to be able to run as a Winboard/
UCI engine under the Fritz GUI and Arena GUI with proper entry of authenticating
code that the engine comes from the CD and is not just a pirated engine. Seems
ChessBase should be able to provide similar safeguards so its various engines
could run as Winboard/UCI engines.  It is undoubtedly an overabundance of
caution by CB that their proprietory engines could be pirated that prevents
this. Locasoft (spelling?) could do this also with Chess Tiger 15.
