I suspect that using hash tables for pruning may save 2 plies here but only if you have the right order of moves and it is important if you start to search Qc2 first or Qb3 first. Ra1 Qc2 Rec1 Qb3 is the shorter loss so if you search it first you can later prune Ra1 Qb3 that gives you the same position in the line Ra1 Qb3 Reb1 Qc2 Rc1 Qb3 . No repetition bug(otherwise Baron could not see the draw) I guess that using hash tables for pruning can save some plies. Movei still does not use hash tables for pruning. One of the reasons is that movei does not store the partial extensions in the hash tables and I found that pruning at the same depth may do it faster in getting the same depth but practically it does not help it and there are positions when it solves one ply later when pruning only at bigger depth does not change much for it. I may change the structure of my hash tables but I prefered to test other changes and I believe that tactics is not the main problem of movei relative to programs of similiar strength and I need to add some knowledge to know at least part of the things that freenze knows about pawn structure.
