Fritz 8 clearly has some special code regarding pawn endings with protected
passed pawn against unprotected passed pawn. usually the side with unprotected
pawn will lose (Zugzwang). Fritz 8 needs not 1 second to avoid g5 on my
PC.however Fritz 8 is not able to identify g5 much faster than other programs as
losing move.
other programs like Ruffian or Shredder overestimate the protected passed pawn
e5 after 1...h6 2.e5. Fritz 8 not.


Analysis by Shredder 7:

1. = (0.08): 1...g5+ 2.Kf3 h5 3.e5 a5 4.a4 Kf5 5.h3 g4+ 6.hxg4+ hxg4+ 7.Kg2 Kg6
