In ancient Persia, chess was played on a 10x10 board, with each side having an
additional pair of Camels. I don't know how exactly the Camel moved, but
certainly it would contribute to a larger branching factor.

BTW, nowadays in Persian, Bishop is still referred to as Elephant, and Knight is
referred to as Horse. Camel is absent though!
