... if the position need not be legal, you could:
a) replace the 'Knight' in my last reply by a 'Generalised Leaper'
a GL makes a 1-N move where N is not defined
b) make the board bigger
... so obviously, I think you need some definition of 'legal' to make your
question meaningful.
Why not assume 8x8, standard Western Chess pieces (as of now), stm not in check
and that the type of force on the board is credible.
