Dear Ossie, I hope you clearly see by now that I am as much a close friend of yours as I am a close friend of ChessBase. In fact, I feel close friendship with every company who accepts my poor money in return for chess related software. I think we all owe you gratitude for your sponsorship of the WMCCC in 1993 in Munich (a gift to yourself on your 40th birthday, as far as I remember?). In my opinion, your contribution (also as a member of the Genius team) to our computer chess community cannot be praised enough. Still, as a friend, maybe you can accept my benevolent advice: The level of debate about SSDF/autoplayer related issues suffered a similar fate as the recent investigation by special prosecutor Kenneth Starr about the president of the United States. Most people are just completely fed up with it. Releasing a "Weiner report" about the SSDF seems undesirable as the issue you are so much concerned about in public seems to be about to be resolved very soon (Junior 5 release). Also, in my opinion, my dear friend, not everything is interconnected. Auto232 autoplayer, SSDF list, ChessBase GmbH, Fritz 5 and Nunn test are not indivisibly united in a devilous coalition to be known as "the enemy". I just started Nunn-testing and posting results here for 2 DOS programs (Hiarcs 6, the old foe of Genius and Chess System Tal (which also once scored an important win against Genius in one particular game ...)). My point is: - I didn't buy Hiarcs 6 or CST from ChessBase. - I didn't send my games to the SSDF. - I didn't use "hidden, secret, ..." autoplayers. - I didn't use Fritz 5 Still you took the opportunity to revisit the shadows of the past ... Please look forward, I'm sure that Genius 6, M-Chess 8 or Shredder 3 would benefit from a debate that didn't focus as much on complaints about [...]. All the best Your old friend Moritz
