One solution: Use Linux. type ^Z to suspend execution without terminating the program. Do whatever you want and if the memory used by your chess engine is needed, it will slowly be swapped out to disk. When you want to continue the chess game, type "fg" and you are back up and running... A "post" command is not very useful. If the engine doesn't have any new info to show, a post type command would not buy you anything new...
