I have both Extreme Chess and Fritz 5. Both are good programs that are
very similar. I like Extreme Chess and think that it is a good buy. Best Buy
stores have it for $19.

What I like about Extreme Chess is the nice interface, limited database, and
the ability to control the level of difficulty by rating.

What is better about Fritz5 is the stronger engine, voice (which I like),
bigger database, and the ability to review the opening book by winning
percentages.
