Hello! In one of the games posted by Sedat Cambaz a few days ago, between Fritz 8 and The King, the following position occured: 3r1r1k/2q3bp/3N4/p1P1n1p1/P2BPp2/5P2/4Q1PP/R2R2K1 b - - 0 1 And black played, Nxf3! It's a nice move for humans, and chessprograms to the lower end of the rating lists. :) (It takes 9 halfmoves to see the combination) The strong programs probably find it in a second or so..but how long do the not-so-strong programs take to find Nxf3 here? (never see too many search- results of the weaker programs posted :( ) This is what my program S-chess (v1.41) thinks of this position on my P3-550mHz (and thinking in the background while I am surfing on the internet) It finds Nxf3 on the 9th ply, and after an hour search this is what my program thinks: 3 -237 0 1919 Bg7-f6 a8-a8 3 -233 0 2889 Qc7-e7 a8-a8 4 -255 0 9529 Qc7-e7 Nd6-f5 Qe7-d7 Nf5xg7 4 -253 0 11918 Ne5-c6 Bd4xg7 Kh8xg7 Kg1-h1 4 -252 0 24029 Qc7-d7 Nd6-f5 Rd8-c8 Nf5xg7 4 -247 0 40933 Rd8-a8 Nd6-f5 Ra8-c8 Nf5xg7 5 -238 1 68768 Rd8-a8 Nd6-f5 Ra8-d8 Nf5xg7 Rd8xd4 5 -233 1 97594 Qc7-e7 Bd4-c3 Rd8-a8 Bc3xe5 5 -211 2 130246 g5-g4 Nd6-f5 g4xf3 g2xf3 Rd8-c8 6 -301 4 345677 g5-g4 Nd6-b5 Qc7-b8 f3xg4 Qb8-b7 6 -249 6 514324 Rd8-a8 Nd6-f5 Bg7-f6 Qe2-d2 Ne5-c6 Bd4-b2 6 -245 9 742263 Ne5-c6 Bd4xg7 Qc7xg7 Qe2-b5 Qg7-d7 Nd6-f5 7 -241 21 1581640 Ne5-c6 Bd4xg7 Qc7xg7 Qe2-b5 Rd8-c8 Nd6xc8 Qg7xa1 7 -221 26 1909602 g5-g4 f3xg4 f4-f3 Qe2-a2 Ne5xg4 Bd4xg7 Qc7xg7 8 -298 166 11040531 g5-g4 f3xg4 f4-f3 Qe2-f2 f3xg2 Nd6-f5 Rd8-c8 Qf2xg2 8 -247 183 12557616 Ne5-c6 Bd4xg7 Qc7xg7 Qe2-b5 Qg7-d7 Nd6-f7 Qd7xf7 Qb5xc6 9 -219 820 58315863 Ne5-c6 Bd4-b2 Qc7-e7 Rd1-d5 Rd8-b8 Nd6-b5 Nc6-e5 Nb5-d6 g5-g4 9 -204 991 68947710 g5-g4 Nd6-b5 g4xf3 g2xf3 Qc7-f7 Qe2-g2 Qf7-h5 Ra1-a3 Rd8-c8 9 6 1157 81019201 Ne5xf3 g2xf3 Bg7xd4 Rd1xd4 Qc7xc5 Qe2-c4 Qc5xc4 Rd4xc4 Rd8xd6 10 -15 1413 103620606 Ne5xf3 g2xf3 Bg7xd4 Rd1xd4 Qc7xc5 Qe2-c4 Qc5xc4 Rd4xc4 Rd8xd6 Kg1-h1 11 6 3017 179367100 Ne5xf3 g2xf3 Bg7xd4 Rd1xd4 Qc7xc5 Qe2-c4 Qc5xc4 Rd4xc4 Rd8xd6 Rc4-c7 Stan
