Another little trick for attack detection and 0x88: detection of illegal moves and checks are special functions in TCB. When a move is played, the position is assumed to be legal, which gives additional information about the position that can help to improve attack detection on kings. For instance, if the starting square of a normal move by a non-King piece is not aligned with the King, then it is legal. Many of the moves are detected as legal extremely rapidly with this very simple test. Rémi
