Sure he could tell. He would know the version I am using. He could download
that from my ftp site. He would know the hardware I am supposed to be using.
He can play over the game to verify that his copy of Crafty on his hardware
would play the same moves. Others "watching/observing" would see crafty's
scores and analysis, and they could do an even better job of checking to see
if all is well, because they could _also_ download the program to see if it
matches.

It would be impossible to cheat with a program everyone has a copy of.
absolutely impossible.

No. I suspect I would become frustrated enough that the place where I
end up sticking my computer would make it not very attractive for me to
have to take it back to my office again. :)
